After the construction of the connection line a part of the extension Vysoká Magura (3,92 km) became a division of the main line whereas the end of the former main line in the division Ustrig – Podrusnáčka (from km 17,5) became an extention.

The connection line

OLR was an isolated traffic system lacking connection with the standard-gauge railway and therefore it could not provide for an adequate export of timber beyond the limits of the region. The timber was forwarded by cartloads to the local line Kraľovany – Trstená rising thus the costs considerably. This situation led from the very beginning of the traffic on the OLR to the idea of connecting this railway with the KLR, whose track was only 4 km away in crow-fly distance beyond the Beskyd Pass (939 m above sea level). It was proposed to cover the difference of elevation of 217 m on the Kysuca side by a system of five dead-ends (2 dead-end stations and 3 line dead-ends). By operating the connection line the main direction of the traffic was reversed, and unlike on most of the logging railways, were timber was collected in the downward direction, here it was hauled upwards across the Beskyd Pass.
